From the 24 to the 26th May, the DLS Privacy Book Club traveled to Brussels and the Computers, Privacy, and Data Protection Conference. A different book club session was organised for each day of the conference, with hosts, authors, discussants, and audience, engaging in fruitful discussions.
Aurelia and Irene co-hosted the book club on the 2nd day of the conference, discussing Alessandro Mantelero’s open access book “Beyond Data, Human Rights, Ethical and Social Impact Assessment in AI.” After a short introduction to the book and the proposed HRESIA model for human rights, ethical, and social values impact assessments, Simone van der Hof discussed the role of children’s rights impact assessments. Charles Raab offered critical insights from a political theory perspective.
