The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights holds an expert consultation on human rights and technical standard-setting processes for new and emerging digital technologies.
On 13 July 2021, the Human Rights Council adopted resolution 47/23 on ‘new and emerging digital technologies and human rights’. The resolution requests the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to ‘convene an expert consultation to discuss the relationship between human rights and technical standard-setting processes for new and emerging digital technologies’ and to submit a report thereon.
Relevant stakeholders were invitated to participate in the expert consultation. Digital legal lab researcher Frederik Zuiderveen Borgesius (Radboud University, Nijmegen) is speaking as one of the experts at the consultation!
The consultation takes place on 15 February 2023, 10:00 – 13:00 and 15:00 – 18:00 in Geneva at Palais des Nation. Remote participation is possible. Registration is still open until tomorrow, 15:00.
