Call for papers: Digital Legal Talks 2026
We are thrilled to share the Call for Papers for the 6th edition of our conference, the Digital Legal Talks! Bringing together scholars of different disciplines, the conference aims to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research, share insights, and discuss the implications of technological advancements on legal practice and policy.We invite junior and senior scholars to submit published or unpublished work.
The conference will take place in Utrecht, on the 27th November and it will be an in-person event. The theme of the conference is Law & Digitalization.
Core topics include:
- Responsible digitalisation & regulation of AI
- Digitalisation of justice systems & dispute resolution
- Technology for law & legal practice
- Digital platforms as infrastructures & enforcers of public interests
- Enforcement, use of technology, and human rights
- Cybersecurity, cybercrime, and cyber investigations
- Data protection and privacy
Timeline:
- Deadline for submission: 22nd June
- Acceptance notification: 20th July
- Conference registration: fall (tba)
- Presentations: 27th November 2026

The Digital Legal Lab is a joint research network between Tilburg University, the University of Amsterdam, Radboud University and Maastricht University.
We bring together legal scholars, data scientists and academics from the humanities and social sciences to collaboratively explore the intersection of law, technology & society. Our joint research initiative – Digital Legal Studies – is funded through the Law Sector Plan of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW).

Winter School
WINTER SCHOOL ON EXPERIMENTAL AND ENGAGED APPROACHES TO LEGAL RESEARCH
The Winter School will focus on how legal researchers can experiment with methods to (I) perform their research more effectively with different audiences, for example exploring art-based techniques; (II) communicate and disseminate their results more powerfully using engaged methods; (III) build synergies with civil society, artists and practitioners; (IV) reflect on their positionality as legal researchers and their role as storytellers, mediators etc.
